The Tenor
and multisided Singer George Bitzios
Georgios Bitzios
was born in Thessaloniki, Greece. As a young child he showed great
interest in music and singing; firstly, in English rock and afterwards,
Greek music. His father was a huge influence and encouraged him to
continue, as he also was a musician. As a result, he took advantage of
listening and learning much from his father. In the year 1997, he met
soprano Georgia Dimou and took singing lessons at the Municipal
Conservatory in Thessaloniki where he studied classical music and his
career as a tenor commenced.
After only one
year, he took part in the national singing competition in Greece where
he won third place. This took place in Thessaloniki where the famous
Romanian, baritone Dan Lordakeskou, was a judge. Georgios has given
numerous concerts and has already performed three times in the opera
"Despo" by Pavlos Karrer, along with other artists, and the Lyrical
Choral and Orchestra from Thessaloniki, under the famous conductor N.
Astrinidis.
In 1999, he
performed as a tenor with Mimis Plessas, one of the greatest and most
well-known Greek composers. That same year, he sang with Christos
Nikolopulos, and also with great success.
In May 2001, at
the theater ANETON in Thessalonika, he sang for the first time in the
comic opera "La Cantarina" by J. Haydn, and as in his previous
performances, was met with great enthusiasm. His repertoire includes
works from G. Verdi, G. F. Händel, W. A. Mozart, J. Brahms, E. Grieg,
R. Leoncavallo, F. Schubert, G. Puccini, F. Lehar, R. Strauss, R.
Wright and G. Forrest.
In January 2002
he completed his education with excellent commendations and laudations
from his teachers because of his outstanding achievements.
He then worked
for the opera in Thessaloniki and participated in the opera "Il
Barbiere di Siviglia", "Fidelio", "Tosca" and "Don Giovanni" under the
conductorship of D. Savic. In April 2003 he participated in a duet and
sang alongside G. Velivasaki.
In November
2003, he moved to Germany and studied for one year at the Music Academy
of Würzburg opera school, as a guest student, where he took lessons
from prominent and renowned professors, in order to be prepared for
introduction to the German opera world. In Germany, he gave many
concerts, some of which were at the Neubaukirche in Würzburg, as well
as La Traviata at the castle Johannisburg in Aschaffenburg in the role
of Gaston, and in the role of "The first prisoner" in the opera
Zauberflöte in 2006. He has also cooporated in a German operetta with
the German soprano Ute Ziemmer at the city hall in Aschaffenburg which
was accompanied by the Aschaffenburger symphony orchestra.
In February 2007
he sang at the Opera House in Frankfurt for the Frankfurter Opera Ball.
In January 2008 he sang as a first tenor at the annual Champagne
Musicale concert at the city theater of Aschaffenburg.
In April 2008 he sang at the Marienkirche in Ludwigshafen, where he
successfully interpreted the work “Axion Esti” of Mikis Theodorakis,
which was awarded a nobel prize.
Georgios Bitzios and Il Bel Canto, along with his Italian friends
Giorgio and Giacomo Camese have presented the greatest Italian songs
2006. Georgios Bitzios and his Greek band Triptychon were accompanied
by Zisis Rakitzis (guitar) and Ilias Kotsis(Buzuki), sings Miki
Theodoraki and other famous Greek composers.

Jackson.
Georgios Bitzios
sang the Rock Opera Alexander by K. Athiridis the lead Role, which
already took place and made its debut on 9 November 2012 in
Thessaloniki, Greece. The Project continues to be performed at various
Theaters in Greece and will also travel abroad. A double CD has been
released and is available on the Greek Market.
